I will be testing the whole system out in a couple days. It will depend on how many tanks I decide to do at one time.
Re: Plumbing is Complete!
Milo, you are correct, the red handle valves can be very tight. As a matter of fact I had to take one back because I could not get it to turn even half way. Got them as well from Home Depot.
For those who do buy them, test them first before you buy them.

I will monitor the breeding tanks when I start draining. Since I have my tanks turned the way they are, the parents keep the fry in the back. If I see this a problem I can always just do it the old way of siphon and buckets until fry are big enough to be moved.

Did you have to prime the line for the pump the first time due to there being no water in the line or ? Sorry I have just never used an external pump like that before. I just employ a fleet of maxi-jet 1200s and a couple 900s for water changes.
Thanks Trevor. I did have to prime the line before starting. I just filled the drain hose with water, turned on pump and it started pulling water. Was easier than I thought.

Jeff if you are going to Kozy's this week end I would love to ask a few questions about this set up?
Re: Plumbing is Complete!
I should be there Coree.
And thanks Brandon.
Re: Plumbing is Complete!
A sock could be use, as needed to prevent any fry from being sucked up.
Jeff I wounder if after you use this on a tank and turned the red shut off knob off if there would be enough water trapped in the line (between the tank and shut off valve) that would create enough suction to drain the tank without the use of the pump.
Could you try this and let me know the answer?
Mark

I plan on checking that tonight Mark. Will let you know. The pitch I have on the pvc should be just enough to gravity feed without the use of the pump.
