Great shots everybody.
I would like to suggest that since this thread was started to impart some photo knowledge, that when we post images that EXIF settings be posted as well. This will let people see how images were created.
I have always enjoyed shooting water and the effects of slow shutter speed on water. This usually, but not always requires a tripod.
The first image is from Great Falls Virginia two nights ago. It was taken well after sunset so that the sky and water would have roughly the same exposure. This is not an HDR image, just the result of standing out in the cold a little longer. Nikon D3s, @ 35mm, ISO 200, F9, Shutter speed 13 seconds.
The second image was also taken at Great Falls which has world class white water. This Kayaker was facing upstream but fairly stable in the eddy of the current. So I tried to capture an image showing the water movement while the kayaker was holding fairly still. @120mm, ISO 400, F14, 0.4 sec.

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum and will soon be embarking on Discus Husbandry. Thanks to all the great folks on this forum, I will be fulfilling a life long dream of raising Discus. It has been on my to do list since I was a 9 year old. I have been an avid photographer since I was 10. My first serious camera was a Nikon Ftn, circa 1973. I have dabbled with photography for over 40 years and currently shoot sports, landscape, astrophotography and previously underwater as well. I currently shoot with Nikons, D3s, D800 and have owned the D70, D2x, Nikonos IV, along with an assortment of smaller travel cameras such as the Panasonic LX7, sony mirrorless cameras, etc. I am a long time user of photoshop having bought my first copy back in 1995.
Here is a shot from 2013 taken with the D3s with the Nikkor 14-24mm 2.8:
