The roots are still leaking a lot of tannins. Ironically this is the only tank which is not supposed to be black water themed. So the plan is to stay with clearwater on this one. The heckels will get very heavily tinted water though.

3 Colombians and the L091 are in. Lights off for the day, will switch on when in dusk mode.
If they are alright tomorrow (sure they will be) I'll move the rest.
They came out and started nibbling on the wood, so turned the lights on

Everybody moved, and they already beg and eat. Cloudiness will disappear in the next few days, as will their stress bars.

omg, beautiful beautiful beautiful. gosh that looks just like a snip out of the amazon. perfect tank IMO. I wouldn't change a thing. Love the black background and the rocks, love the wood placement, love the discus and other fish love it all. congrats Tobi
Sweet lord this is amazing, personally, I'd go blackwater with this but hows its tinted right now it looks great. Those pikes sure are somethin else.
Spectacular!!
Well the root is going to provide tannins for a good while, we'll see where I go after that.
Night mode is pretty cool, too. Will adjust to a little lower intensity tomorrow.

Few more pics.
Some of the guys are still a bit scratched from the move, but looking much better than a couple days ago.
And some of them are already starting to mark their territory, but they are the ones I expected to do so eventually. Might have a pair on my hands, who knows
Fed mussels, makes a mess of the water.
Also added some water lettuce, hope it survives this time.

Geeze louise. that is all I can say
Nice spots!
How are those pikes behaving themselves.
Very well so far, outside of feeding times they mind their own business, the discus aren't bothered by them at all. During deeding they started to steal the fdbw cubes, so switched to loose worms, as I feed the discus more often than the pikes. In return the discus eat mussels and shrimp that the pikes leave. So a perfect symbiosis, for now. The L95 cleans everything else up, be it mussels, pellets, worms or shrimp.
Just did my routine water testing, 0-0-5. No wc since it's been set up. And those plants are growing and multiplying. Seems I'm doing something right here.
My lord these greens are beautiful! Greens and or Heckels are for sure on my list.
Quick pic, Pistia is growing like crazy, the picture doesn't do justice to how awesome it looks, the surface is virtually fully covered bar the patch on the left which I need for feeding.

TANK LOOKS AWESOME!! Discus are showing dark bar, is it because you are photographing them?
No, it's at feeding time, they always get really excited. I'll try to get some pics at a quiet time soon
no need to explain, mine do the same. its hard to photograph them without bar bc when I approach the tank, they automatically assume food and show bar.

Gorgeous. What a tank.
Going on holiday for 2 weeks tomorrow, mom looking after the zoo. Hope all goes well.
Nice looking tank. IS this a well known aquarium builder or a hobbyist DIY guy that you purchased the tank from? This si the first I'm hearing of the bracing coming off. Good thing it happened fairly quickly while you were around. It could have been a messy situation if the take gave out filled with water. Let us know how you make out.
Rob
It's a well known Discus seller here in the UAE, but not well known for custom tanks.
But the tank is holding up well, no issues at all. The glass is terribly thick now, so the bowing issue is eliminated, and extra bracing to the point of overkill has been added to make sure it stays safe.
Not much news, still running well

Thank god my case is waterproof !! Droooolll
I love those big beasts in w the discus. Are they all
Getting along ??
I love this tank, fantastic layout, great job
crenicichla zebrina is quiet?
How big are they now?
Guess would be smaller one 10, bigger one 12, just eyeballed though.
Just moved the Altums in with them, boy they look good in there. Lights are dimmed for sunset already, impossible to take a good pic with the phone. Will try tomorrow.
They seem to have taken a bit of flak in the other tank, hence the move and the rough finnage on some of them, a couple of the blues are crazy territorial.

Pat
That is super cool!
Very impressive! Just read this whole thread and wow, what a tank. love it
wow really nice. Those Altums are beautiful too. Congrats. It's a really stunning tank! Soon, wigglers :D
Congratulations. Hope all goes well with the fry.
CONGRATS TOBI!!!!! That is really awesome isn't it. It is such a rush to look in the tank and see two parents guarding eggs.
Would be my guess, too. To be honest due to work timings I didn’t have a lot of time to watch them
Thanks
Eggs haven’t turned white yet, but the tank is fairly dark, so can’t really see what’s developing in there. The other 13 discus or the altums will take care of the fry though
Thanks. It won’t, but I have no intention to actually breed with them as such, just love seeing this kind of thing happen.
Yeah I love it, only started tweaking the water about a week ago. Went better than expected
Tobi, You have some beautiful fish and setups. You have done real well here. Thanks for sharing!
