Tetra Bits Large Cans $5.99
I didn't want this to get lost but you can still get the large can 10.58 oz of Tetra Bits at
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/ for $5.99 Just make sure you enter this code KC-119163 in the box labeled enter item # or keyword. This info was provide to us by Simply member Thuan back on 03-15-2005 Maybe one of the mods can think about making this a sticky so everyone can save $5.00dollars off the regular price of $10.99

Good Idea George!!
I have been buying them by the case at this price for a while now. Considering some people are having to pay $18.00 plus per can, this can really cut the bill down.
Most places are having Christmas Sales too, with discounts on lots of things we all use. Foster&Smith is doing the same.
Respectfully,
Frank

Re: Tetra Bits Large Cans $5.99
As long as the can has the foil seal, I don't know if they can expire if stored in a dry place...
-
Re: Tetra Bits Large Cans $5.99
I buy them by the case and put them in my deep freeze until needed.

Is there a PRIME code??
Almost a $1 an ounce is getting expensive at the LFS!
Anywhere to get it by the gallon cheap?
-
Re: Tetra Bits Large Cans $5.99
Use ClorAm-X instead of Prime. I buy them by the bucket at jehmco.com or you can call them at 800-521-6258.

Re: Tetra Bits Large Cans $5.99
Cage - Prime from BigAlsOnline.com is about the best price I've found. Sometimes Pond Prime is a little less, and it's EXACTLY the same product... no difference whatseover except the label and the instructions..

Jim
Always look for a pond equivalent in a product, especially meds. If pond meds were priced like aquarium meds it would cost a fortune to treat a pond for anything.
A good example of this is Jungle Fungus fizzy tab treatment for tanks VS ponds. The jungle fizzies cost about $3 for 8 tabs, or 80 gallons of water worth. For about $8 you can buy a jar of Jungle Pond fungus Eliminator, which is the same exact product in powder form, except that for $8 you get enough to treat about 1500 gallons of water.

Re: Tetra Bits Large Cans $5.99
Hi Dave,
Just to clear things up, the Pond Prime is identical to reguler Prime, just as Jim said. The Pond Prime is not twice as strong, it's the exact same thing. They say it treats twice the amount of water because the recommended dose for pond water is half the amount recommended for aquarium water. The reason has to do with the pond being part of the environment. This has been talked about off and on over the forums many times so you can do a search on Pond Prime and find more info on the subject. HTH

Gotcha. I see. From the Seachem website:
Q: What is the difference between Pond Prime and Prime? Do I have to buy both for my aquarium and pond? Can I use either product?
A: The products are actually the same. However, the instructions are different. Given that most pond are more of an open system compared to a typical aquarium, chlorine tends to gas off more readily in a pond in effect having to use less Prime. The dosing instructions are as follows:
- for aquarium use, 1 ml per 10 gallons
-for pond use, 2 tablespoons per 600 gallons
Same thing, but since ponds gass off Cl faster you use less. Makes sense comparing an open pond to an aquarium with a glass top. I misunderstood the above the first time.
