Re: Getting back into Discus
I ended up with my lights very very dim or the fry would swim away. I also had a desk lamp on in the room. The fry are now completely hanging around the parents. Hope you get attachment this time!

Frank, you must be successful. Not to put the pressure on you but the community is counting on you!
Re: Getting back into Discus
Peewee1, you are really putting on the pressure!
I was not sure anyone was really reading the thread. I am very much enjoying the fry. I count each day a success. If they make it to Sunday, it will be their 1 week birthday! We will see how things proceed. I am very very much a novice here. The light situation solved by Brian at Winnie Discus was huge. I would have just continued with each successive fry succumbing to the same problem. Now I can solve other problems. :)

I so relate to these threads of people doing their best. It's good for me to hear that I'm not the only one who gets excited but is ready to accept what happens, good or bad. Either way there is always a next time.

Re: Getting back into Discus
Its been awhile since I've posted an update on here. They are all doing well and l'm maintaining 2 x 30% water changes on both the breeder and the main tank per week. All the females have stopped laying eggs, but Ive notice a bit of interest lately.
Though not as much as before, the fish are still being fed on Frozen Beef Heart, Freeze Dried Black Worms, and Discus Gran D50 Granules.
In the meantime i purchased a new phone, which i think takes not to bad a picture, and thought id share some of the main tank with you.

Exceptional discus. Are they Penang Eruptions? About that cone. A remnant of a recent Stonehenge archeological dig?

Thanks Peewee1, Much appreciated.
Yes they are Penang Spotted Eruptions. I was told on here years ago that the Penangs have spots on their gill plates which these clearly have, but as far as the cone goes, its one of two very valuable and cherished cones, custom made for me by one of our sponsors on here Delightful Designs Discus Cones (Barb Odgers) - North Carolina, and the only ones i know of in all of Australia.
Look her up and place an order........

Two-ites. twp cones...most impressive. I have been using flower pots mostly because that is what I used for breeding back in the day. But you will find it most curious that I have two of them, two tanks, and two children. I also have two green cory cats...
Re: Getting back into Discus
Bloody stunning mate! Such majestic, beefy & beautiful fish. If I ever move home I'll be stopping by for a coldie and a squiz
Re: Getting back into Discus
Could I know which vendor you purchased your fish from? That red/ halo is really stunning to behold.
