I'm so happy for you, Al. I remember when Pat had to dispose of those fish. The fish in her avatar was in that video. Do you still have that one?

Thanks Liz!
Its been a few years now since Pat sent me her wilds. I don't have all of them anymore..attrition took afew and old age. The ones I do have though have changed alot. I really cant say if I still have that fish..
I do have several of her blues here though that are in my program. :)

I haven't updated in awhile, I really have been too busy with family stuff but I thought I should post a few pics.. I'm going to be upfront and say these fry came at the worst possible time for me but I have tried to keep up with 100% water changes a day. I usually feed fry alot and a mix of flakes and Blackworm fines and pellets after I wean them from baby brine at quarter size and I often will do more than 1 wc a day if the tanks looking like it needs it. I was barely able to do 1 x a wc. I also skimped on my feeding. I went from BBS to crushed flakes mostly.. I mix of HBH seafood lovers and veggies. 3x a day . I premixed the bag and thats what I have been feeding these and any similar size fry. I needed something quick and easy and something I could have others feed easily for me.

For the most part They are growing well. I have a bunch that the chin is a little weak but I noticed that from the start , maybe its a developmental thing. They are growing slower than my domestics from the same time frame, maybe 30% slower? This is comparing fish that had the same care,
I'm ok with how slow they are growing, and I think even the weak chins I see on some will round out more as they grow.

Mom and Dad both had weak chins compared to Domestics but were still beautiful fish. I think Theres alot of potential in these guys..I will be patient.

They look great~!!~
They look great Al and showing a bit of color here and there :D

Its been a while since I updated this this thread and I have gotten a lot of requests as People are enjoying watching the fry I sent Pat grow out. I ending up keeping about 30 Fry.. I split them out. Took my favorites and put them in 8 per 55 gal, and 10 per 55gal.. The rest I have in another 55 gal. I would love to move them in more tanks, but right now thats not an option.. The following pics are from the two 55's with 8 and 10 fry respectively.
They are fed pretty much nothing else but my Freeze Dried Blackworms at this point and having been shifted from Flakes a few months ago.
I'm really happy so far with the growth and development... Compared to my domestic fry.. They are much slower , but I anticipated they would be. As for shape they are really filling in nicely and as for color and pattern and eyes...stellar. I think these will be some really nice fish in a year or two..

Awesome Al!! I would be very interested if you have another group!!
Brian I wish I knew you were interested. I would have set you up with some of these! Unfortunately the male passed away since the spawn... I'm guessing he was 5 + years old. It was a bummer. However, I have the female paired up with another red based wild Blue.. Which should be a great pair if they work out...You can have first dibs there.:)
al
New pair... hopefully.

ps.. sorry for the pic, My phones camera is on the way out.
Al, some of your grow outs look like they could be domestic. You have some beauties in the batch. All of them are better than their parents. I am impressed.
That's a gorgeous pair! I'll reserve a place in my new fish room in hopes they like each other
Gorgeous fish Al, Pencil me in for some grow outs if you ever sell any!
Wow, stunning! put me on the list for the next batch. Highly interested.
