Good decision. I have made it my primary mission on these forums to share this story in order to prevent others from a similar heartbreak.
I can't wait to see this beautiful sump in action soon! Nice work.

Mini update,
The poret foam arrived over the weekend.
The blue is 4" square 10 ppi. The baffle forces the water up through foam.
The black is 1.5" 30 ppi. That baffle forces the water down through the sheet.
Running a full blown wet test right now. So far so good!
Notice anything different about the sump?
It looks kind of empty, are you doing a redesign?
One of the baffles broke! !/8" glass could not hold up to 40 gallons of water! I drained it part way down, and noticed it starting to bow under the uneven pressure. This morning it broke right down the middle!
In a way, glad it did, I was a little leery of 1/8" glass. AND I replaced it with 1/4" with finished edges so I won't cut myself.
It only took about an hour to cut it all out and clean up the silicon.
Back to square one. It won't be bad, I'll glue them up tomorrow after work and let them sit for a couple days.
Sump is back up and running. Doing a 24 hour leak test on the whole system. Couple hours in and so far so good!
Actually the glass breaking was a blessing in disguise. The 1/4 glass is so much nicer, I had the edges finished so when I put my hands in there no chance of getting cut.
I had the poret foam this time so I used it for an exact placement of the baffles, so the sheets fit perfect. Just all around better. Very happy with it now!
Now I just have to scape and throw in some fish! Might do that this weekend.
Sand arrived today. Plants are here, I'm ready to scape the tank, but the diftwood won't sink!!!! Any ideas how to get LARGE pieces of wood to sink! I boiled, they have been soaking for two weeks! Any ideas?
I've always attached to piece of slate
Two large stumps!! In my mind it is going to look awesome!!! LOL.
FYI...the log wouldn't fit! LOL..
I got a steal on 3 pieces of aquarium wood last year off Craigslists....she said she paid over $100 for each piece!
She wanted $10 for each piece I gave her $50 for all three! And she was happy as a clam just to get rid of it!
