Re: May 16 - SWDC Los Angeles Meeting
OK Guys & Gals!
Things are looking good!
Please get with Larry in regards to any final items that may be needed for the luncheon (i.e. plates, drinks, utensils, etc.).
I believe there was a call for chairs as well. One thing that may work best is if everyone brought their own camping/lawn/folding chair for their own personal use. This will ensure that everyone has a place to sit just in case one of us gets long winded and you feel like you want to sit. :D
We are going to be presenting a large lot of items from vendors and members for auction and for sale! Raffle tickets will sell for $5 or 5 for $20. We only have 100 tickets and it would be OUTSTANDING if we sold out! If everyone buys 5, we'll be in great shape! The raffle tickets were custom made for our event and donated by San Diego Discus!
The funds from the raffle will go towards future meetings. I realize that this first meeting has a little out of pocket expense for food, etc. If we can kick this meeting's raffle off right, then future meetings will be funded by the clubs raffle funds. I'd love to see our next meeting be free of charge for all of our dedicated members!!
Here is a snapshot of items that will be available for auction/sale at the meeting.
Discus
Beefheart
Flake Food
Medications/Medicated Food (Fenben, Vermi, PP)
California Black Worm
Frozen Blood Worm
TDS meters
Drift Wood
Live Aquarium Plants
Breeding Cones
Asian Air Stones
Sponge Filters
Seachem Safe
There may be more, but these are the items that I know of!
For those of you traveling long distances, Bill (Inland Empire Discus) will provide O2 for bagged discus transport and I'll bring along some dry ice for forzen item transport.
If any of you have new or used items that you would like to sell at the meeting, please feel free to bring them along and we'll get them added to the sales tables. All I ask is that any used items be in good working order and have a presentable appearance.
I'll be taking some pictures of some of the above listed items once all of them come in from the vendors. Yes, shipping is going to cut really close! Most everything should be in hand by Friday and pictures will be up that evening.
I'd like to thank everyone for their support of this meeting! Larry, you've been remarkable! Kevin, thank you for the generous contribution of your time and space! For all the others that have pushed this event in the right direction THANK YOU!!!!:balloon::balloon:
When I posted up a Summer 2010 meeting announcment, I expected 3 or 4 people to want to meet up with possible future growth. The response received so far surpasses expectation and really gives me the confidence that our group will grow in to a large number of people in the future!
Thanks again for all of your support! This is going to be a good time!
Best wishes!

Chad here is my donation to the club to be raffled off Sunday the Alita AL-6a air pump. This is a brand new pump but does not come with the air manifold. Someone is going to get a deal of a lifetime on this pump. I have sold quite a few of these an everyone just loves how quite it is and is able to produce more than enough air for their tanks.
George
Everyone can read up on the pump here.

It's retail value is about $110.00

No problem George. We appreciate you making this long trip, and your kind raffle offer. See you tomorrow.
Re: May 16 - SWDC Los Angeles Meeting
It's not a bad 5 hour drive when you have done it has much as I have it seems pretty short. I grew up in Southern California but left in 1976 and I use to ride my bike as a kid through Baldwin Park, West Coving, Covina. The drive get's a little lonely through some parts of the desert but it is pretty to see in the mornings. Anyway it is 5:30 AM and I am getting ready to leave.
