Rick,
Very nice! Are these orange ones albino by any chance? Maybe the parents are Albino intermediate of some sort.
Rick, does that mean there's a chance of golden leopards?
Are the fry any weaker than their darker siblings? I've known a few people with golden based leopards and they seemed weaker and slower growing than other discus.
I think there is a chance, but I am not positive the fry are goldens, I just feel strongly enough to bet a lunch/dinner on it (however not strong enough to bet a weeks paycheck :) ) I would think however, if I am right, the chance for golden leopards would be very high......
Not at this point in their development, no. I have however witnessed what you are asking in other goldens, but not all of them. So whether or not slow growth and weaker fry is a product of the golden gene specifically, or a product of over-excessive line breeding, I am not really sure. I do know that a current batch of golden based snow leopards I have spawned and am currently raising are extremely slow growers, yet another batch of golden based fish I am raising are every bit as fast growers as their non-golden siblings.Quote:

When I do notice the slow down in growth, it usually does not kick in until 1-2". They seem to keep pace up to that point, then start falling behind. However my sample size is extremely limited, so I would take that for what it is worth, just an observation based on a handful of batches so far.

I'm gonna eat well.
