A 6" discus is nothing to scoff at! How old are they?
The blues look like I got Jan 4th last year at 2"-2.5". Or at least that ist pic in my phone! So bit over a year plus whatever age they were at 2.5".
I guess looking at one of Hans posts he says 6" at 18 months and 7" at 24mo.
I wonder if keeping at 82 slows growth a bit.
Wow this is very beautiful Hart!
tank looks good, i like the combo of those two strains
Thanks everyone! The pitcher plants are taking off in the external over flow too!
Great looking tank and fish. I am getting back to freshwater after many years of reef tanks and your tank has been a great inspiration. Love the look the Kessils bring and I think I'll go that route when I build my discus tank. The idea of an automatic water change system is very appealing also. I still have lots to learn before building my tank but your thread has been a great start. Thanks.

Thank you for the kind words! Happy you found the thread of use, made my day!
Added 50lb of pool sand finally, color in the video is kinda strange but looks very nice.
Nothing earth shattering, business as normal for the 180 discus tank. However the 120 next to it and the original tank in the thread, I emptied out and bought 9 altum angles for it. The water is shared between systems with UV on there, however I will turn the flow between them off and eventually have the discus water pass to the altums before out the drain. The altums have been in captivity in CA water for 5 or 6 months so should be pretty well off at this point. They were expensive, but I think worth it.
Edit: he miscounted, going to have 10!
Big news. I gave away the fish in the 120 (Nile puffer and the original tank in this thread), and got 10 altum angels from Wes at rare fish from monsterfishkeepers.
They are 4.5-5" long and around 8" tall. They were not cheap at over $100 each, but have been in captivity over 6 months so have acclimated to captivity well and kept in CA tap water which is pH of 7 and around 250 TDS. This 120 shares water with my discus 180 via a UV and they are on the same ro/di auto change system.
Had them over a week now. Video below is from Wes before I bought them. They didn't eat for a few days but I have them my standard levamisole and prazi worm treatment.
Got them eating live blackworms and now frozen brine shrimp and mysis. Hopefully get them on bio-gold and fdbw soon. He said they would take pellets.
Some pics.
Well the pics not uploading from my phone. Will try later.

Here is the 180 and altum 120

Got them on frozen! Next step is fdbw and pellets.
Well the angels have been on FDBW for a while now and starting on pellets. I think they have grown already if that seems possible!
The discus are great, but if I was to do it all again I would have gotten larger ones and paid more money. Getting 18 at 2.5" I guess it's a bit luck of the draw when comes to color uniformity and size. I would get 5" ones from Kenny, but you pay for the weeding out for sure on high grades.
Another almost 3 month update.
Nothing really new to report. Tank still cruising on automatic RO/DI w/c, no losses of altums and discus still looking good and breeding in tank. Did a nitrate check, around 5-7ppm with sensitive salifert test so things are looking good. Will try and get some pics later.
Lets see a pic even if there are no changes! lol :)
