What's wrong with this picture?
I turn 65 in October. I started SS early, so I am apparently already enrolled in Medicare parts A and B. I receive on average a mailing a day from an insurance company wanting to sell me the supplemental plans. I got this letter with info that appeared to come from US gov, but you never know. It says it's from Medicare, but I had to call to get assurance.
Check out the letter.

Maybe that should have been a clue it was official!

Good thing you've got your wits. Not trying to be rude but scammers prey on the old, senile and desperate. If they get one 1 hit out of 1000, they are doing great business for little effort. I feel sorry for both, the scammers and their victims.
Stay sharp and beware!!!
Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I get that stuff all the time. Somewhere it has to state that it is not affiliated with the government.

And look at the ad that now appears next to your post.
People still don't think the insurance companies are the problem... smh...
Re: What's wrong with this picture?
This actually was the official gov letter, with the misspelling. I looked up medicare.gov and found the same contact info as in the letter. It also contained my official Medicare number. I called the 1-800-Medicare with a couple questions and pointed out the typo/
Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Government dollars at work, lol...
Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I bet I've gotten letters with that heading a million times and never noticed the typo. You'd make a great proof reader.
Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Since your 65 birthday falls in October you can wait
for open period. You will receive a ton of mail from insurance co. probably late Oct and Nov. this way you can compare.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Official "Departmen" letter...
Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Jeez I stared at that for a solid minute and thought 'Looks legit' didn't even notice the typo...
Maybe HHS saw it and thought 'eh, they are old, it'll give them something else to complain about, they'll appreciate it' :p
Alternative the typo could've been for Depart Men and they are offering end-of-life planning.
