Thanks for the welcome everyone.....my luck in Vegas may influence a few changes at my place. One thing that comes to mind is more room for more tanks :D

Hey Joe, welcome back.
Your post resonates deeply with me! More than a decade ago, I also had a fish room dedicated to Discus, and found it difficult to give them the consistent care they need & deserve, because of all my fishing trips (hence my name).
Because of work (tones of travel) and fishing + my dog (lots of time needed for walks), and because of the loss of a friend and fellow SD member (Barb Newell) which was a hard pill to swallow at the time, I decided to sell off my stock, and just keep less challenging aquarium fish for some time.
Two years ago, I was in my LFS one day, and saw some awesome PB's at 4" and the next day I had a tank of Discus again. Now my Altum Flora Turq. pair has had it's first spawn, and I am looking at bringing in some new tanks to grow the fry out in......looks like I'm back in with both feet.
I remember people back in the day saying that once you have kept Discus, you can never truly leave the hobby, and I guess it's true. I found myself lurking on this site, and experiencing some serious Discus withdrawal LOL Now I have two tanks next to my computer so that I can watch them when I'm online, and I have finally managed to silence that nagging voice in the back of my head begging me to put some Discus back into my life.
Anyhow, welcome back, and a word of advice - don't play the slots at the Vegas airport; they're designed to take your money. Best of luck at the casinos and welcome back.

Hi Paul. All so very true. Sounds like we do have lots in common. The fishroom l have now is filled with large fish that are very easy to care for. I put some photos up of it in my 'Do like fishing' thread awhile back. Check it out, and hope you can contribute to it.

I'm real eager to get back into it, and looking for any info in regards to the Spotted Snakeskins l'm looking at. Any advise from anyone on here will be appreciated

Re: Getting back into Discus
Its taken a little longer than l thought, but like all good things was worth the wait in my opinion. Its been a little over a year since l met, my now good friends with a local discus breeder where l had my eyes on some beautiful Pennang Discus that he had paired up for breeding. The fact that he also loves fishing might be another reason why l spend lots of time at his place. Like most discus keepers/breeders, he to encountered a few problems and was not happy to pass on any fish to me untill they were right.
Being very patient and with the thought of having a good batch of discus in my tank again, l waited till he gave me the green light. He had a batch looking really good and told me that they were the ones for me, and would be ready for me to take home after l returned from a trip l did to China and Japan.
Well 2 days ago, l was very happy to have discus back at home in my tank. I ended up with a batch of 18 Spotted Snakeskin/Pennang Discus, which have settled in and feeding nicely. This is the largest group of discus that l have ever had in one tank, and he assures me that they will do great this way, and l can thin the group out as they grow.
I know that a bare bottom tank is the best way to go for raising juvenile fish, but l just had to dress it up a little with some white sand and some timber. My attention has already been diverted from watching the t.v. and computer screen, and back to having beers and coffees in front of the new main attraction.
I'm looking forward to watching this group develop, and l'll post updates on here from time to time.
WOOHOO!! I'm wrapped :D

I'm happy with the progress of these guys, and can't help myself from sitting in front of the tank and admiring them. I think they are going to turn out just fine, and have noticed significant growth in very little time
