pH drops too quick. is there any good chemical to slow it down?

Anyone try Seachem Neutral Regulator? I don't think Seachem Alkaline Buffer is good idea for discus. thanks

What is your carbon hardness from the tap and how big and often to you do WC's? Over time carbon hardness depletes from the ions produced be metabolism from fish and plants. Seems it might be quite soft from your source. You don't have to buy a buffer to bring KH hardness up. Some do it with baking soda and others use crushed coral or aragonite in their filters. The amounts depend on size of tank and it's bioload.

What's your WC regimen? How often, and how much at once? Unless you do it daily at least 30% I think that crushed coral in a media bag would be your best option.

I agree with Liz, use the crushed coral, seems to last longer. I have already used
Discus Buffer, Coral Buffer, Alkaline or Chiclid Buffer and Neutral Regulator.

Shan uses baking soda as a buffer with success but I'm leary of it because it's buffer doesn't last long. Of course Shan watches his fish like a hawk and tests his water often. Crushed coral gives you some elbow room as far as WC.
