New Cuipeau Wild caught discus
Yesterday I received two new wild caught discus from Mark at Discus Origins. I received in perfect health, two casual line golden eye cuipeau prospective females. They will be going into my main show tank shortly to join 4 wild caught green tefes and some dicrossus filamentosus as well as a school of corydoras. This is my first time with cuipeau discus and i am very pleased. after only 30 min in their qt tank, they were swimming around acting totally at ease. Currently they are in a 30 gallon hexagonal tank, temp 82-83, PH 7.6 with twice daily 30% water changes. The qt tank has just a marineland HOB filter, a fluval heater and rooibos tea. I threw in some driftwood just to make them feel less alone.
This morning they pecked at loose FDBW but did not eat it all. Thank you Mark for such beautiful fish

Re: New Cuipeau Wild caught discus
They look great Jacklyn. Mostly likely are not familiar with FDBWs.

Re: New Cuipeau Wild caught discus
Thank you Jacklyn for your business :)
They look like they are nicely settled in, give them some time to adapt to FDBWs....in the meantime if you have frozen mysis or bloodworms they will definitely go for that.

MONDAY MORNIGN UPDATE:
these two are doing well. eating FDBW already, loose and the biopigment kind. One of the fish even ate some from my hand, I couldn't believe it. They prefer the water with tannins, as you can see in my pictures below I took some pictures before adding the rooibos tea back in and they show bar. They also show bar when I'm inches away from the glass taking pictures. They are very curious about my dog and cat. Whenever they walk buy the tank these two follow them around and forget about me.

Thanks Tobi. They are 14 days in qt tank today, I will possibly be adding them to the main tank in one more week provided nothing comes up
Re: New Cuipeau Wild caught discus
How are they getting along as a twosome?

not the greatest Phil. they bicker back and forth, about 4 days in I thought I was going to have to put a mesh screen in to separate them from fighting so much, but they have settled in now. They really only argue when its chow time. They eat from my hand already

thanks pat. ready to put these in with the others, fighting the urge everyday
Re: New Cuipeau Wild caught discus
Jacklyn, I know it is hard to wait but I would. These two are doing really well together so there is really no rush.

agree with Pat. Great looking discus but just wait a few more weeks if you can fight the urge.
Re: New Cuipeau Wild caught discus
That tank is 30 gallons? Looks awfully cramped, maybe thats why they are beefing more than you'd like?

yea 29 gal hexagonal tank. plenty of room for 2 fish in qt. they just each want to be boss when it comes to food.
