40ft vs 15ft isn't too bad, it's the 1-1/4" pvc vs. 5/8" garden hose that hurts.

I think I will go with one of these sump pumps. Mine will have to be used with a hose. From basement floor to top of tank is about 13-15ft up, and about 30 ft of hose. If I can get around 200 GPH I will be happy.
How can you tell if they are oil free if they don't say so? Looking just on amazon right now and not many of them say oil free.
Hi Dan,
I have a very similar setup you are imagining. Some pics are in my tank journal (http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ed-discus-tank) but basically my tank is in front of one of my central heating outlets and directly above the mechanical room. I run a garden house from this pump: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt...802A/205617257 through a hole I drilled in the central heating conduit and out the heating vent and into my tank. I use the same hose to drain the tank for water changes and direct the water into my basement drain. ~100 gph with that sort of head height.
I know some of the little giant external pumps come in high lift versions if you want to look into those you could
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the input for sure!!
