More progress on the fish room, too.
Unfortunately, the albino leopards ate the eggs almost immediately. The red turks ate them on day two. I moved the albino's beside the red turk pair, hoping they will learn something on the next go
Instead, I've had the two pair battling at the glass divider for the last week. Very little breeding activity.

Nice discus. I have to ask, those naturally looking blues in your long video are wild discus?
Re: 2012 Simply Discus Challenge Pictures/Video, Harry Marsh Alex Piwow Red Turk Babi
Nope, no wild discus here. :)
The Cobalt (blue) and Red Turquoise are all Alex Piwowarski fish from Germany

More eggs!
These from my favorite colored male (straight lines)
I put the female in the community tank: she has been eating the good eggs of late and leaving the fungus'd eggs
This male usually does pretty good (leaves all eggs)
Also some closeups of the juvies

Those are german discus. Much speculation to believe they're bred with wild discus to bring out those bright colors

Annoying automatic focus on my phone. I should try to disable those in the future...
Apologies that you may want to kill me after watching a few of those :)

Update video
54 days old. Almost 8 weeks
I took this using a camera, so the quality should be much better.
2.5 inches or so? (including tail)
When should we be narrowing down to 8?
I definitely have some short gill plates. But I think I can find 8 nice ones

Anyone have comments regarding the fish on bottom right?
Eats and is healthy, but has the red blood looking face.
Re: 2012 Simply Discus Challenge Pictures/Video, Harry Marsh Alex Piwow Red Turk Babi
Thanks Jen
That's what I suspected, but wanted confirmation
They fight hard for food: despite me feeding them 10+ times a day (I drop food in every time I walk by)
I imagine the ruddy faces are from fights, run-ins with glass, etc
Another video from yesterday
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npuc-oGajPU
All looking well except for one smaller, black little guy
I haven't culled him yet because he has decent shape (just small, dark in color)
Plenty of others could probably be culled (beaks, football shape, short gill plates, etc)
There are 10 solid fish with no complaints, another 10 that might turn into nice fish.
10 will probably be given to a neighbor
I've got the tank space...so I'm not culling much. I'd prefer to grow them out and cull at a later period
