I prefer PowerGlo, low wattage. 10,000 k. They seem to penetrate waters a little deeper then most other lights I've tried and show off excellent colors in my red based strains, blue diamonds and wild greens...
Sam,
What mkind of fixture are you using on your tank(s)? I ask because you may want to use a combination of bulbs if you have a multi-lamp fluorescent fixture. Hagen has printed a very good brochure on aquarium lighting that I have seen in my lfs. The brochure indicates what bulbs to use in a 1, 2 or 3 bulb fixture for particulare applications.
In my case, I have a 3 tube 36" unit from All-Glass on a 30 gallon tank. I use T-8, 25W tubes. Note that the All-Glass ballast for the triple tube fixture only drives 25W lamps. I use a Tropic, Flora and Ultrasun bulb from ZooMed. Each addresses a slightly different spectrum. Effect is very nice.
Sam,
I finally found the link that I was looking for:

Click on the link for freshwater lighting from the above link. Nice piece to print, difficult to read on screen.
I am with Randall, GE aquarays all the way.
