Water parameters for Discus
As a freshwater fisherman I believe salts in the water ( or lack of them ) are important for Balance .....and air pressure for catching them:)....As the Discus comes from very low TDS in the wild it has evolved too survive in this water.....
Just a thought here .....because the Older EURO breeders (grow out) there young in hard water and feed on Beefheart (apart from Euro discus Centre that don,t use beefheart ,not sure about hard water ).....this would seem Soooo wrong to me.
Beefheart too grow the young fish quicker for sale and using hard water so they don,t get any problems from New customer's!!!.....SORRY
But in time would Hard Water affect the Discus swim bladder, even if your water is around 100 to 200 TDS. Euro water 500/800 TDS
Is this Breeding a fish which is weaker??.
Re: Discus laying on bottom for over a week
Would using fresh Low breeding water be better....???? 40/70TDS.:fish:
Re: Water parameters for Discus

Re: Water parameters for Discus
Hi Matthew,
Apologies..I didnt see the link you were trying to make. I can tell you that we havent seen any link between TDS and swim bladder. we have members whose water would be perfect for Africans! Higher TDS , especially in Domestic Discus is pretty well tolerated.
