Angels Plus at Minnesota Aquarium Society
Steve Rybicki of Angels Plus will be the guest at Minnesota Aquarium Society's next membership meeting (Thursday, June 2). The meeting starts at 7 PM (Central) and is open to the public. To participate, however, you'll need to pre-register. To do so, go to our website and click on Register Now! After entering your information, you'll get an automated email with your log-in information.
Instead of giving a talk, this will be an interview format. Come with your questions and Steve will try to accommodate everyone as time permits. You can also PM me the question and I'll ask it.
Normally, I'll wait until the week before announcing the speaker. But I know many discus people also lusts after great angelfish. Some of you have spent discus-type $$ on Angels Plus fish. So block the date on your calendar.

Those are some nice angels.

Just a reminder that the Steve Rybicki Angels Plus presentation is next week. Registration is described previously. If you have questions to ask, you can PM them to me or ask them directly during the meeting.
Re: Angels Plus at Minnesota Aquarium Society
Thanks, Willie, for letting us know about Steve at your MAS meeting last night. I have been buying Angels Plus fish for over 30 years. Steve has the best angelfish in the country and is probably the most knowledgeable breeder around. I really enjoyed the meeting last night and learned quite a bit of new info.
Re: Angels Plus at Minnesota Aquarium Society
It's taken a while but Steve Rybicki's interview has been posted on the Minnesota Aquarium Society Youtube channel. Very sorry this has taken so long, but the information is invaluable to anyone serious about angelfish.

The Albino Daltums are stunning. But I understand that if you can get them to breed, they don't breed true.

The albino dantums do breed true. A fellow hobbyist in the Twin Cities have bred them and the spawn was 100% albino. Like all albino angelfishes though, they are a total P*TA to raise because you have to keep the spawn under dim light for the first week. Bright light blinds the fry.
In my big tank, they're intermediate in size between regular angelfish and altum angels - so very large.

Re: Angels Plus at Minnesota Aquarium Society
I've been trying to get Steve Rybicki to speak to our fish club for several decades. But by the time he finally agreed to speak, I've moved on to other types of angelfish.
My current mania are the manacapurus. These came into my fishroom about six weeks ago.

They do breed true and spawn regularly. Willie is correct, they are a PITA to raise fry. They seem to have a difficult time on finding food the first few days and an aquarium light will knock them to the bottom every time. The dim light has to come from outside the tank. A tank sitting near a window with green culture might be better for these fry for their first days. I understand if you breed a regular albino with the dantum albino then the fry may not be albino. The albino gene is not on the same axis as a regular albino angel.

The manacapurus came from Tangled Up in Cichlids, as did my altum angelfish.
