Visited at osprey nest which has three chicks almost ready to take flight. This is dad eating a meal in peace. The background was a white/gray sky. Like this better.

Pat, Thats a great shot! Very regal bird! Love Ospreys!
The lighting on the bird is interesting. What time of Day is it? Did you have to adjust the lighting on the bird post proc as well as the sky?

It was late in the day Al with a white/gray sky. The light was fading. I did left a little texture on the osprey which warmed it up a touch. Here's the original image. I am definitely interested on your impression. I am very new with working with textures.

Pat it definitely helps alot with the blown out areas in the original Like the top of the head. I do like the textures one better.. Im not familar with the textures tools but have done similar in gimp with filters.
Here are the three chicks. They are as big as the parents and practicing small takeoffs and landings in the nests.

Beautiful Pat!! Did you texture the chicks pic as well? I love the chunky structure of the nest...good and sturdy to withstand strong winds...I'm guessing by the looks of it, the parents re-use the same nest each nesting season? Thanks for sharing
Another image of the chicks. The far right chick is eating the leftovers of a fish from where mom had feed all three and the other two are looking on.

really crisp shot Pat, very nice...coming from Australia I found it neat that the eagle bloke's name is Ozzie...lol ;)
I went back the other afternoon knowing the chicks are near ready for their first flight and I was not disappointed. Here is one of the parents feeding one of the chicks.

The chick in the above post is the first of the three chick to have flown for the first time. This flight could well be it's second flight.

Towards the end of the day the chick flew back to the nest. It circled the nest a couple times prior to landing. It's nest mates had already settled for the night. Note the two little heads in the nest.
