Re: More Greenwood Woodducks
Pat I like this set more than the last times you've posted the Wood Ducks, I think letting them settle might of made the difference or you are just shooting them better like you usually do given time! This set just feels a bit more natural and eye appealing to me if I'm honest. Love looking at this variety of duck.
Re: More Greenwood Woodducks
Thanks Matt, as always appreciate the feedback. :D I was not shooting down on these guys like I was the first set. Perhaps that makes a difference?

Re: More Greenwood Woodducks
Very cool pics Pat. Up here wood Ducks are super secretive...so much so you barely see them. Its funny actually when I think about it. The birds I have encountered in Florida, Texas, and the Carolinas seem less fearful of people. I think its partly due to numbers
I have Great Egrets, Green herons, great Blue up here...yet I never get as close as I do down south. Pretty much every good shot I have of these is down south. I think its because theres safety in numbers and very few up here
Next time you are out there look for nesting boxes or holes in trees above the water. Wood ducks are hole nesters..kind of rare in ducks. People often put their nesting boxes out in the water a few feet above it. I always wanted a shot of a male flying out of a box..

Re: More Greenwood Woodducks
Thanks Al :) I spoke with someone who shoots there pretty often and she said that she has never seen baby woodducks which seems weird to me. I have not seen any nestboxes but I will keep my eyes open.

Wow. how beautiful! #3 is my fav. but each one is just great. Wood Duck boxes are very large, we see them for sale a lot here, the hole is about 4-5" and the box is about 24" high. Just as Al said, people put them on posts out in the water.

Worst time possible Stan, mid-afternoon. The lighting was dappled due to the trees. I felt the lighting worked pretty nice. :)
