How I re-size pics for posting
How I re-size pics for posting
The forum software allows pics up to 2MB to be posted. Sometimes a pic is within that range, but the software has to rotate it to fit. Other times, the pic is just too large. In both cases, the pic size needs to be reduced. I’ve read there are programs out there that reduce pics for you, but I’ve developed my own work-around using Microsoft Outlook.
First, I select the original pic on my computer, usually in the pictures folder in the Finder. Select/highlight the doc, but don’t open it.
From the top menu bar, select share, and email.
Since Outlook is my default email, a new email window opens, and at the same time, a pop-up asking about the size of the pic. I choose large.
The new email opens with the attached pic. I drag the pic to my desktop, and then discard the email. You now have the reduced image on your desktop.
I then use the forum pic posting icon and select the reduced pic from my desktop.
You can throw that desktop pic away when you’re done.
Hope that helps for someone.
Folks will probably have even easier methods to offer, but that’s what I do.

Re: How I re-size pics for posting
Thanks, Steve. I was just looking for a workaround for this and I'm glad to find your post. It's a few clicks and such but still seems like it might be preferable to opening an account to have images hosted somewhere. Will try it and see!

Re: How I re-size pics for posting
Thank you for sharing Steve.
Very convenient for mass resizing.
On windows, good ol' "Paint" also works well for me. (right click -> open with -> paint)
^For simplest editing like cropping & resizing.
But gotta do that one by one.
