If you want them to try raising their own fry move them to a 10 to 20 gallon tank and add something with a flat surface for them to lay on. Some people use a smooth rock, I use 4" terra cotta drip trays for potted plants. When the wigglers go free swimming feed them BBS right away. The pair prefers something to hide their spawning spot so I usually stick in a plant on driftwood but fake plants would work fine.
Too late for this batch are spawning now. Very hard to see on the light color flat rock.

I guess I will move them to a 20g tank on their own for future spawn. Unless I can move them with the rock to the 20g to save the batch.
Liz do you think if I move them now before hatching they would survive? I can move the rock they are on in a container with the tank water and add some java moss.
I have to stop first at the LFS to pick some supplies and hopefully if nobody ate the eggs and they are fertile I will try. I have a camera on the tank, I can see the male still chasing the neon's and the blue diamond away. He's a brave little guy.
I"ve never raised fry without the parents. I have moved the spawning surface with eggs and the parents to a breeding tank. The parents will be the hardest to catch what with your plants so unless the other fish don't start chowing down on the eggs get move the parents first. The pair will either care for the eggs or freak and eat them but in that case they will spawn again. Good luck. I breed Rams too but I'm in to the black ones.
Thank will do, I would like to get ahold of a pair black rams but nobody has them around here.
So far so good they seem to be cleaning up and fanning or eating the eggs we will see.

I ship. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in a pair.
I sent PM and I know you ship I am enjoying the Albino BN's a lot and they are such hard workers.
PM answered. I forgot that it was you who bought the albino BN. Sorry. I'm just in love with the little guys. They never stop working. I wish they weren't such slow growers.
OK mom is moving the wigglers from the rock to another corner of the tank. Should I start a batch of brine shrimp? or is it to soon

It seems that Ram babies take forever to free swim. But mom and dad would appreciate some. I like to add a bit of BBS before the kids free swim. That way the parents don't think it's a dangerous intruder, freak out and eat the kids. It has happened to me and a friend both. In case you don't already know, moving the wigglers is a sign of good parenting instincts.
I am very inpressed with these two little ones. I got them from a very reputable LFS (Go Fish) that Hans and CTE recomended (CTE is where I got my Marlboros also recommend by Hans). The young lady went in with the net and scoop she got them and said these two look like they were together, boy she is good. Got them in the QT tank and after a little over two weeks they went in the 75g with 20 neons. Right away the stuck together and I could see they were a pair.
I put a flat rock surrounded by fake plants and they went at it.
