Your first shot is a great one. Your problem is that you had too slow of a shutter speed. Had you increased your shutter speed to around 1/100 of a second, then your shot would have been a lot sharper. However, that would mean increasing ISO or opening up your aperture. We will go over some of these things in your practice :).
