Re: Arturo's Contest Fish
Why white diamond has yellow and blue on it? and female look like red melon to me ...
Re: Arturo's Contest Fish
Red melons don't have white faces rdiscus. Should get some red/whites out of this cross with maybe some random yellow thrown in. alot will depend on the genetics of the white diamond, but it does appear to be pb based (as is the velvet red).

I think your right Rick, and from what I know about white base they are as strong as pigeon. So if that is the case than the darker ones are what pigeon's that are really peppered? Something else I wonder is the male does look white base, but don't white base stay solid white I know they have the blue glow, but I thought other than that they were solid white. I don't know that is one I know very little about is white based fish, that is why I told Arturo to post it here to get other people in that know more about what this could be?
Re: Arturo's Contest Fish
Awesome looking fish no matter what name it is given. :) Keep the pics coming for sure.

I am pretty sure all it means at this point is the male (white daimond) is heterozygous for the white gene (only has one). The white based fish do have a tendeny to mask pepper, but it's to early to tell if the darker ones are heavily peppered. They could be as clean as a whistle, they just don't have the white gene.

There are several white based pb that are not solid white, red/whites and ogon yellows to name a few.

Looks like a velvet red :)
When I thihnk red melon I think of a fish like this:

Alot of breeders will apply a different name when the face is white. In your example the breeder choose not to. Long story short, they are very simular (velvet red, red melon, etc) and it's all part of the name game.
