Does activated carbon remove tannins?

Will activated carbon expedite the process of removing tannins in the water leached from driftwood?

It does. However, I was told to replace carbon every month.

Purigen does for sure, and it can be recharged

I just remove them with WC.

Why would you want to. The discus living in my show tank seem to love them.

I add tannins, mini Cattapa leaves, to some of my tanks. I use Purigen in my canisters as carbon removes the nutrients that plants need.
