Discus refuse to eat dry food
hey guys, so I bought a batch of new discus, seems like they are used to bh, frozen bs, and red worms, I tried with some dry food friends gave to me such as d50, discusfood, tetra discus, sera discus etc and I have observed that only 3 of 15 discus eat them.
I have purchased the discus garlic guard and have the intention to mix the dry food with this to incentivize their appetite. what do you think guys? do you guys have any better solutions? I have already increased temperature+ not given other food for 1 week and they are so stubborn!
Re: Discus refuse to eat dry food
Give them nothing but pellets for a few days. They will eat them when they are hungry enough and then they will develop a taste for them.
Re: Discus refuse to eat dry food
Some people call that "tomorrow food". If not eaten today, maybe tomorrow.

I always vacuum the uneaten stuff out and try again later with fresh stuff. I don't want food rotting on the bottom of the tank.
Re: Discus refuse to eat dry food
I second Liz's advice, she is completely correct about both. Let them get hungry, they will eat. Don't leave uneaten food to rot. Very bad.
Re: Discus refuse to eat dry food
ok thank you guys ! will do that+ using garlic guard seems to work for now at least more discus are eating dry food .
Re: Discus refuse to eat dry food
Whenever you bought new discus, give them a Hikari USA Inc. Tropical Bio-Gold food. This is the most recommended food. it contains Vitamins and Nutrients helps to improve the growth of fish and also improve their colors.
