This thread could also be called Oh-oh, be carefull what you ask for! I know I'm bragging a bit, but can you blame me. After down-sizing for the past couple years and focusing on maintaining healthy fish and developing pairs, and figuring out my water, that all seems to be coming together. But my fish room isn't ready! I'll set up more tanks to deal with the fry, and my build plan (better than 50% approved by the boss:)) is scheduled for late summer.
Nicely done !!!
Looking great. I think you have gotten this deal figured out.

do ur pairs ever charge the divider? i was always leary of egg crate because i had an oscar cut himself up bad on one. the last big male discus i divided using a sheet of opaque drilled acrylic charged at it and slammed it like a maniac when he could see the discus on the other side thru the tiny holes. ur guys seem pretty calm. maybe my guy was just special.
Well, I haven't had that problem yet!
Looking very nice.................. Thanks for sharing
So, both sets of new fry have attached. Yay! They're in a 55 with an egg crate divider. The parents are doing a good job of herding them, but i assume eventually they'll wander through the divider. Will the parents accept the other's fry? Can they recognize their own? I'm also surprised how red the older group looks since the parents were both blue. I'm guessing it's their brown background and they'll color up later. Any thoughts?

When do you add BBS? These guys attached much quicker than my last group(that's another thread) and were very small, but look great. Attached yesterday. When will they go for BBS? I added a little today. Is it too soon? I've got a couple hundred to feed!:o
I'm actually surprised at how well corraled the parents are keeping the fry, with the parents chasing them down if a straggler approaches the divider.
An update. Here's the olders at 4 weeks, and one of the newer batches after a week of attaching.

I'm considering bringing fry to the NADA show if they're doing well. I'll post later in the hobbyist for sale section if I do.
I've been waiting for this. This my oldest pair; she's 5 years old and he's an f1 of her's, about 4 years. They're a proven pair, but they haven't spawned in a while.
