Re: Background color options
Hi Martin. All painting is normally done on the outside of the tank

+1. Never spray the inside of a tank. Only outside.
Re: Background color options
That's what I thought, but it won't look like sand, just looks like glass with sand under it :o

Here I have two different backgrounds, one of which is my current 75g tank. It is a 3D background from Universal Rocks. You can find it here:

This is what it looks like in my tank:

Also, if you look on the tank floor of this tank, you will notice it is painted. It was painted with 2 cans of textured paint by Rustoleum. I have been using this for years and in real life it can pass off as sand like look:

This first one is the one that looks pretty much like sand. However, I wanted to get a slightly darker color and I mixed it with this one in the bottom:

Obviously this isn't a painted on background, but this thread isn't limited to paint only, any background will do. This is to get ideas going for anyone thinking of spicing up their background.
Here is another option. This is "frosted" vinyl film from Lowes. You can buy this pretty much in any hardware store in the window section.
This isn't a great picture of this setup, but I don't have one here currently at work:

I'll add another when I get home
Here's how they sell it:

Oh my gosh I just ordered the same background! I follow someone on YT that recommended universal rocks, mine gets delivered tomorrow. Do you still have it? Did it hold up?

yeah, I still have it. Still looks brand new like the day I installed it. Keep in mind, I do not have plants and my lights are very low, so I have never had any issue with algae.
Here's a video with the background in it :)

Just checked it on Amazon and of course saw your review Ricardo lol. I think I will order one as well for my 75. When I finally tackle my stand and sump build that may be a good time to put it in.
Re: Background color options
Lovely tank and beautiful fish :) For those of you that have the textured backgrounds, are they easy to keep clean, easy remove algae etc? Thanks

no, they are really a pain in the butt to clean with algae. I had a similar background with my 55g and it was a fully planted tank. The algae was almost impossible to get off. With that said, the algae gave the whole tank a certain "character" that I didn't mind so much.

Re: Background color options
Anybody have any tips for getting under the center brace, or is that just asking for more trouble than it is worth?
Re: Background color options
it is not rigid, you should be able to bend and work it in.
