Highly likely as he is working super old, vintage strains/types.

I think this thread deserves an update.
HFSB Watley - High Fin Solid Blue Watley.
History: Sadaki Hachiya procured original Watley Coerulea 25 years ago. He has worked with the strain ever since.
These are now 75-80% Coerulea and about 25% German cobalt. I did ask Mr Sadaki once where the Germans came
from but I forgot. I will be seeing him soon and update the information when available. His focus was clearly to keep
these Watley, but with a extremely nice shape. You can follow my thread on
    these here http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ghlight=watley
, or I am more than happy to discus them here.

I was lucky to get some of these Wattley Turq's from Vern Archer about a years ago. I bought them at quarter size and it wat2.JPGtook me 2.5 hours to get them through customs. they are 5 inches now. pics were taken with my Ipad so forgive the quality.

Wow this thread is still going after all these years.
Glad you were able to get the fry from Vern. Hope they do well for you.
I'm out of discus and fish for that matter but still check in the odd times.

I guess it depends how you measure, the largest is a little over 5" nose to end of tail. Vern's pair weren't large fish either and he was working to develop a larger strain.
I hope they color up also, these are offspring from Vern's pair which were fully colored.

I think they are beautiful! My first discus, in about 1988, were Wattleys. And they were smaller than the huge discus we see now. But the colors were great. Hope they like my cone well enough to put lots of eggs on it!
