    I have one Wattley original from the Wantanabe shipment. The fish doesn't have the best shape but the color is awesome.

    [QUOTE=nc0gnet0;950098]Wantanabe correct?

    Rick, Dale Jordan told me last year his Wattley Strain did not come from Watanabe. He wouldn't tell me who in Japan they came from.

    My experience, my first discus were Wattley cobalts and pandas, but I sold them all and bought new amazing strains from Thailand, from Kitti Panahiti. Thatīs life. lol

    My first discus were Wattley turquoise 25 years ago and remember the amazing discus from Hong Kong at about the same time. Also remember hormone treatment was common back then to enhance color, especially the reds. That's not the case today, but the Wattley were exceptional back then!

    Especially the blues!!! With testosterone. There is not hormone for the reds, just carotenes.

    I believe testosterone enhances all color, don't remember the blues except for Wattley's and Schmidt-Focke.
    Then again all i had access to were a books and a few breeders.

    The fertilization is poor. Only a few hatch and because of this the parents eat the wrigglers as soon as they hatch.

    I'm planning a trip to Ontario in February/March. Hopefully you guys will have some of your Wattley's available.

    25 years ago, than you almost had probably the last Discus bred by Mr. Jack. Think he stopped breeding more as 20 years ago.
