I think I offically hate you Len.
    Ha-Ha just kidding buddy.
I truely love that pair Len and best of all a site to see all those kids on their backs.
Lets see...some more juvies to grow out for Christmas would be a great gift. Hint-Hint.

    Thanks all,

It's batch 3 for this pair, plus one batch with another pair that pretty much look identical. They came from Spencer Jack in Winnipeg, and were sold to me as Manacapuru Blues, but then after it was pointed out by some wilds keepers that isn't what they are. It happens that he also had some Cuipuras (sp?) come in at the same time and perhaps the wrong fish were sent, so to be honest I'm not sure what exactly they are, but regardless I like them and was happy with what I received. Pat, a wild hatchery would sound great if I had the means to do it and the time to keep up with it. I'm really enjoying watching them develop and as crazy as it sounds, when I come home for lunch to do WCs and even after the end of the day it's a peaceful break. I mean really, it doesn't take a lot of thinking or brain power to drain water, wipe a tank then fill it and while I'm at it I get to watch the fish -- makes for great wind down time

    Cheers,

    Len

This video shows batches 2 and 3 together. I cheated a little and put both spawns together. Batch 2 had to be taken away from the parents at 6 days free swimming because the male was starting to eat them. He was trying to get the female to spawn again, and they laid a new batch almost right away when the fry were removed. There is only about 2 weeks difference between the spawns if memory serves me right. To be honest, I didn't expect the batch taken away so early to survive, but I had been introducing bbs from day 1 free swimming and they were eating and proved me wrong. I expect the size difference to even itself out over the next few weeks if they follow the same growth pattern as the first spawn.
