Default Why are my adults finicky with bloodworms now, never before?

    DISEASE QUESTIONNAIRE

    Problem

    1. Please explain the problems with your fish/when and how they started.

I currently have 3 tanks of adult fish. 2 - 30 gal tanks with a pair in each and a 120 gal with 5 adults, BB, no plants only discus.

About 3 wks ago I noticed my usually aggressive fish ( They would tear into bloodworms, eat all of them in 5 minutes ) now are picky and slow eaters when I give them bloodworms sometimes taking 30 minutes to eat all of them. Sometimes analyzing them before they mouth them. Sometimes they spit them out, sometimes they eat them. They eat flake food pretty good but seem a little finicky with it also.

    2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/ white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds)

    Slow eating is only problem.
Nothing has changed, long time established tanks with parameters in line.

    3. What medications/ treatments that you have already tried and results. Include dosages and duration of treatment.

Fed Angle plus following directions, Deworming followed by Anti protozoan, then antibiotic.
It helped some as they eat a little better but still slow with BW.
They eat them but it may take an hour to clean the tank of them.
I did not raise the temp of tanks.

    Tank/Water

    4. Tank size and age, number and size of fish
    Above

    5. Water change regime/ how long has tank been running/ bare bottom or gravel/ do you age your water?

Aged water, 2 WC about every week of 75 % once a week and a 50% once a week

    6 Parameters and water source;

    - temp __84___

    - ph _7.0____

    - ammonia reading __0__

    - nitrite reading _0___

    - nitrate reading ____

    - well water ____

    - municipal water __yes__

    7. Any new fish/plants added recently

    No.

    Fish eat flake food faster.

    Any Ideas?

The only reason I mentioned that is because when I started feeding FDBW they stopped going for the frozen bloodworms. Its puzzling after reading the questionnaire its the only thing I could come up with .....Josie

Also could be that the batch of worms were bad and gave discus bugs?

I remember someone else stating afew weeks ago that his discus were not eating the frozen bloodworms not as well as before and/or stopped eating frozen bloodworms. Not sure whatever happened to that thread. Anyhow, based on my experiences, when fish's eating habit/behavior change, something is wrong with the fish. As Eddie mentioned, water could be the issue.

    I'm located in the Midwest.
If it was a water issue, wouldn't it most likely effect all eating habits, not just BW.
Which are Hikari by the way.

I'm wondering if it is something in the BW?
Maybe they changed something or it's a bad batch.
I have another flat, i think i will try it and see if they like them better.

    thanks for the suggestions.

From your initial post, it sounded like it you were referring to plural fish, not just one.
