But none of those 3 fish would come anywhere close to winning...at least here in the states. Way to many issues with weak chins, bad dorsals, weak undersides. The last one also appears chicken beaked. That is the problem with the bulldogs. There extremely short bodies make it very hard for all of the other pieces to fit together well.

I have fed nothing but bh mix to discus for a very, very long time. The food is not causing that defect. Back in the day I did not see the problem near as much as I do now. Lots of breeders started breeding mainly for color instead of shape. That is why we are seeing so many poorly made fish.

No disrespect intended here but I have been reading through this thread and just wanted to point out this thread 4th fish, Class 4 Red spotted snakeskin winner and also Grandchampion. Now this fish has a Bull Dog look and a weak chin so why would he place so high? IMO these guys would be the experts when it comes to judging fish.

LOL, weak competition is normally the answer. Round fish would have beat it.
+1, and depending on the judge panel, some like that high body look. Also, size seems to be a big player. If the fish is gigantic, they look past the weak chin and any other shape issues. When I was judging in Malaysia, the grand champion was a ring leopard that I did not grade well due to the same shape issues.
They didn't classify it as a bull dog either so it may have a bit bigger head however compared to the photos I've seen on what is known as the bull dog now, I don't see the comparison. That definitely is a good looking fish as was all those in that thread. Nothing that looked close to those bull dogs I've seen for sale online though.
That definitly rolls back to my original question prior to seeing photos on Google, on aquabid and other locations of a bull dog for sale when I "thought" it might be the same as a HiFin Discus. From what I've seen, you can't compare the hifin to a bull dog but just my opinion.
