Oh wow Pat that sounds like an adventure. How much water changes will you be doing.
So I have a half cooked plan to setup an above ground pool this summer and place and growout some of the discus outside. In April people here move delicate fish outside for growout and move them back inside for the cooler months in October. My plan is to use an intex pool and will target a 33in x 12 foot circular pool which will hold 1700 gallons. I will cycle the pool with some pond pure (if practical) and place some experimental fish in the pool to ensure they can actually live. The pool will have a pump for areation and circulation, a partial sand bottom and driftwood to provide cover. I will also use netting used by greenhouses to cover the pool to protect from birds, coons etc.
I place credit for this idea fully on the head of Nandi as he is doing something similar in Hungry with the Xingu F1s.

Good luck Pat! I am sure you won't be doing daily water changes on that baby
What do you have in mind for temp control?

Pat,
You've redefined MTS. I can't wait to see your setup and hear your reports on how it's working.
