I've had one for a year and I've onlt had one problem. It was a big on that ended up dumping 100 gallons of water on my floor. The fitting that broke I replaced and haven't had a problem since.
I've been having difficulties with my Turbo-Twist UV Sterilizer (12x - 36 W). Long story short, I'm on my third leaky unit in a year. The first two I used leaked within the first thirty days of setting them up. Now my third Turbo-Twist is also leaking. The first two times the Turbo-Twists leaked Coralife replaced them no charge. After the 2nd replacement I was told if it leaks again I was on my own. Well I noticed it leaking today.
The Turbo-Twist does not leak on the outer housing. That would actually be preferable. Instead it leaks into the sealed quartz sleeve where the UV bulb is. This sleeve fils up with water and submersed the electrical prongs in water. After the quartz sleeve is completely full it then starts starts leaking on the floor.
I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say this is an obvious electrical hazard. I'll be calling Coralife on Monday to express my concern.
Has anyone experienced this same problem?

I use the in-tank version to avoid this problem.

Hi Mark, a in take version would be great but I only have a 65 gallon and well I need all the room I can get for fish. That and I like the look of having nothing in the tank that isn't absolutely necessary.

So instead of calling Coralife for the 4th time I'm going to see i I can fix the Turbo-Twist myself. I picked up some silicone from my LFS and caulked the hell out of this thing. Hopefully this works.

Quick update:
Even after I thought I caulked every possible place my Turbo-Twist could leak it started leaking agin. So, I finally decided to replace it altogether with something more professional. Today I installed an Aqua Ultraviolet UV Classic 8 Watt. I'm happy with it so far. Very sturdy construction and no LEAKS
