Oh that is so not good. Sorry that is happening to you Jeff. I hope they cover all of that. That is some serious rain.

So I come home from work at 4:00 just to find that my family room level of my house has water all over the new hardwood floors and remodel. It rained so hard here today between noon and 4 that one part of the outside wall could not take it any longer.
I thought my 95 gal wave tank sprung a leak, but luckily it was ok. I shop vac up over 20 gals of water in 3 hours. Most is gone, but still more under the flooring.
So now have to see if the home owners insurance can help me out. I estimate with the floor, drywall, paint, tear down, well over $3,000.00. The floor was almost that much.
Oh well, off to finish cleaning up then heading out before more rain comes in later to dig a trench around the front of the house and hope it holds the water back. We are expecting rain for the next 3 days.

Jeff, this is horrible. Hope the insurance company will do something for you and rain the next three days. Ouch.

Really sorry to hear that. I just went through it and had to have the floor replaced in the whole apartment just 2 weeks ago and it was more work moving things (tanks included) than I ever wish to do again. Best of luck to you, I feel your pain.

Damn buddy sorry to hear! Hope they cover all that for you!
Jeeze Jeff, sorry to hear....but hey, that's what insurance is for!

Thanks everyone.
We found a 16" crack just below the foundation. This crack could have been from the dry season last year and from the sudden onset of lots of rain this past couple weeks. I had a contractor friend over to help assess the damages when he found the crack. We thought we could try to work this weekend to dig down 4 to 6 feet to get to the drain tile, tar the wall, put of a sheet of styrofoam and fill in with gravel and dirt, but with all this rain it would just be like moving mud.

whatver you do, dont use the word flood with your insurance company...just say the wall fell down and you have water damage, not flood!

Jeff, sorry to hear about this bad news... it has been raining hard and crazy... good luck...
Sorry buddy hope it didn't cause to much damage. Run a bunch of fans across the floor it will help it dry out faster and do less damage. My cousins run a concrete sealing company in the Chicago area not sure if they do this kind of work but if you want I could give them a call and find out.

That would explain you not answering the phone tonight. We can share house flooding stories some day Jeff, my last place was awful. Spent a pretty big chunk of change fixing it. I feel for you.
