Gorgeus discus, Pat! Your stock keeps getting bigger and better.
I have never heard of Pacovals. But what do I know? They look amazing, though.
Here are the Cuipeua "cousins" from Mark (Discus Origins). There guys are actually called Pacovals. A lot of potential in these two and hoping they will be royal (or near royal) and male. I am pretty sure that the current Cuipeua crew only has two males (based on size, straitions and behaviour)
Same fish
and the second. My favorite of the two.

Mauro, if I recall what Mark said the Pacoval collection point is very close to where the Cuipeua's are collected from but they do not actually mix in the wild.
Yes, I am trying to improve my stock as I go.
These two are coloring up nice especially for young sub-adults.

Pat,
What is the difference between a regular Pacoval and a Royal Pacoval? And yes you have some gorgeous fish.

Hi Dave, the amount of striations govern whether the fish is called a regular, semi-royal or royal. A royal will be almost fully striations across the body and a semi-royal will be partly striated. I believe there are percentages which roughly describe both.

Pat , your stock is getting better and better, nice coloration can't wait to see them fully grown.
Julian.
You sure have a stunning collection of discus. My favorite actually. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to do wilds, but your success is something to aspire to.
Joan
Thanks, it's something I keep in the back of my mind if I end up moving back to Maine. My water source there would be much more conducive to wilds than my current water here in VT.
Joan
Very pretty fish, and great photography.
