wow I am really jealous of people who are so handy.I mean a handyman. very nice setup.
Hockey Pucks under the legs is a good idea as well. will keep the wood from wicking up any moisture trapped in the concrete when you have the invariable spills.
I also like epoxying the floor underneath the fish tanks and work area as well. I was soooo much happier with my basement of fish once I did all of that...
Still, I was plagued by dampness. You are in the Northeast, but your basement looks MUCH, MUCH DRIER than my basement ever was. In fact, I shouldn't have had my mini-hatchery in the basement at all...Should have built a separate out building really... Oh well... I just had the wrong basement (excessive moisture...foundation covered in English ivy which I was too stubborn to remove because it added cottage appeal to the house, seasonal spring on the property, etc....).... you are probably in much better shape than I was.
But start thinking now of how will you rid the basement of that moisture in the winter months when your are sealing everything up tight as a drum to save on heating bills.

learning never stops
I plan on getting a dehumidifier that drains into the sump. My house is only 4 years old so the basement is bone dry. I like the idea of hockey pucks under the legs. I might have to do that.

There you go!! Looking at the pic Now I Wish I painted mine also!!
Ok so it's update time!!
It's been slow moving. Wife has me working in the yard but I have been able to make some progress.
All tanks I have are drilled, I still need to get 2 120 gallon tanks but I am going to wait a little.
Got the bottom of the breeding tanks painted
Here are then 55s drilled. I am debating what to do for the bottom. During my planning I forgot they have the middle brace.
And lastly, I finished painting the racks. This solidified my hate of painting. I also got 1" insulation for the shelves cut and in place.
So I have to finish painting the tanks and plumb the drain lines and air system. I feel like this is never going to get finished but I am chugging along. Hopefully I will be doing daily WCs soon!!

Looking good!!
I will have to add even though I hate painting I do like the white better and I think it will protect the wood pretty good. BUT the number one thing I like is how much the paint solidified the racks structurally. They had a little sway in them if you stood on the bottom shelve and tried to rock them. After the paint went on they are rock solid now, no sway at all!!!

Well it's time to kick the fish room construction into over drive! I just ordered 5x Piwo Red Turks and 1x silver pigeon from Josie at Chicago Discus. Thank goodness my QT tank has been running for over a month. Really excited right now. I just hope my months of reading have prepared me for what is to come!!!
