A Test amongst friends!

Ok I posted yesterday that Marc (mlov1022) and myself were getting some piworski Red Turq Juvies from Rich T. Who has some super red turqs from Dan Espinosa when he bought them in. Rich's fish are some of the nicest I ever seen. Made me jealous in fact lol. But Rich being a super Nice guy he gave Marc and myself the chance to buy the whole batch which consisted of about 96 very uniform in size juvies. So after Marc and myself bickering on who would drive to Rich's house we went! Ofcourse I lost and had to drive (I hate driving in and around New York city lol) But we went split the batch into two groups and made the treck back home. I dropped Marc off and headed home to get my little guys into thier new home a 55 to start. But on the way I had a bucket tip over and I had to make an emergency pit stop to pick up flipping discus all over the back of my truck lol. But I got them all I think I have checked my truck and havent found any dead ones lol. SO now the story Will start keep checking in here as Marc and myself will post regularly and keep track! We are both looking forward to seeing each others results and with any LUCK we will have some awesome Piwo based red turqs!!

I can't believe you didn't lose any fish from the spill. How many were on the floorboard & where did you get some more water? Considering the luck you had saving them I'd say LUCK is already on your side.

We each had two buckets and put about 20 or so in each bucket when I left Marcs house I was about a mile from made a left turn and over it went. I quick pulled into a bar/hotel parking lot and ran to the other side of the truck and just started grabbing and tossing them into the other bucket lol. I had a plastic bag over the buckets so a lot were in the bag and there was about 8 on the floor and one hit the ground when i opened the door all in all worth it !! I will post pics tomorrow!

My feeding schedule is as follows
First I feed my ground beef fish and shrimp mix
Then while at work I auto feed 4 times angels plus triple growth flake
when I get home they get Dans fdbh mix
then I feed tetra bits
and angels plus triple growth 2 more times after that.
I plan to vary thier diet as I want to incorporate fdbw with progrowth and and few other things.
Ill keep you guys posted as I change it up and I also do 90 percent water change daily and I moving them to a 90 gallon tank this weekend!

Ok Last night I moved them from a 25 to a 55 they seemed a little lost with so much room. I will post pics tomorrow. Doing good eating everything I throw at them! I have a total head count of 44 fish. So I figure I am doing good so far! Waiting for Marc to post some pics!!

Ok, here's my Piwow's. So far they are doing great in their 55g home and eating 6-8 times a day, consisting of Beef Heart Flakes, Brine Shrimp Flakes, Hi-Pro Growth Flakes, and of course Dan's FDBW. I do a 90% water change daily straight from tap. As soon as I get some size out of them, I wil split the group in half into another 55g. I plan to post updates every 30 days or so. Well In talking to Marc we are going to do 30 day updates so the photos are more obvious in growth and what not. I had a total head count of 44 fish after loosing a bucket on the trip home lol. But I lost 2 so far no big deal I will post number of deaths and culls periodically. I am hoping to have at least half of this batch turn out.

Ok its been one month these little guys have been in my care I had about 12 die off I figure a natural culling I want really worried about. I have a about 3 really good sized ones and about ten good sized ones and a few straglers I am going to cull in time I figure a month more then ill thin the heard out. I changed thier diet to fdbw flake with progro from Dancbw and angels plus triple growth and tetra bits I feed my beef heart mix once in awhile. I am happy with these guys growing out so far. Sorry about the crappy Iphone pics but you get the idea!!

Got some nice growth on them since I saw them last!! I referred back to the first pictures and I am impressed with what you have done. Keep it up!!!!
