Waiting for the tank to cycle a good bit before reintroducing them. Got them all in a 45 gallon rubbermaid right now. I will probably give it at least 2 weeks to cycle.
Looking good. Time to add the discus.

Can't wait to see the discus in the tank!
Finally got the fish moved in! They still aren't fully accustomed to the new setup and are huddled in the corner, but it's been less than 24 hours so I'm sure they will come around.
Very nice tank and fish. Great job Sej
Thank you! It's hard to believe the PB on the far left came from PETCO! Don't worry he went through extensive QT away from the other fish though he didn't need it at all. I got him while he was still in the shipping bag before he got put into the toxic slurry of fish diseases in their system. Not a single sign of disease from him and he ate like a pig 2 days after I got him with normal poo.
Anyways, I will hopefully get a better shot of them swimming around once they get a little more settled in. Just couldn't wait to post a picture of them in the tank. They look great in there and really pop in the natural looking setup.

So you bought the fish from Petco??? I remember reading that thread.

very nice set up, looks awesome
I too have bought pieces from ManzanitaBurlworks. Great site and way better pricing that manzanita-driftwood.com I love your tank, I have the same theme going on on my 75 gal that is currently cycling. what do you think?
I recently took the pieces of stone out as I found out that they were causing my ph to rise rise rise. your background is way cooler than mine.

Both have wonderful tanks!

What kind of stones you are using?

Baygon, I was using "Zebra Stones" from Petco. I tested them with the vinegar trick and all was well, then after a couple weeks in the tank, ph rose and rose so I took them out and tested them with the Nitrate #1 bottle, sure enough bubbled right on up. I am replacing them with some river rocks that don't bubble. Petco actually just took them back without receipt and after being in a tank.

I threw in some tiger's eye stones without even thinking about the ph shift because I didnt expect them to swing it much. I will be sure to monitor it closely the next few days. I'm already riding high around 7.6 but thats what comes from the tap and the fish don't seem to mind. It's better to get them accustomed to a stable ph than try to lower it with chemicals or additives.
I was more cautious when making the background though as I covered the Styrofoam in concrete which I knew would raise the ph due to the aggregates in the mix. To avoid raising the ph I covered the whole thing in a 2 part epoxy and I haven't noticed a swing in the ph at all even when initially filled.
I also really like your tank Jack. Get some fish in there once the tank cycles and it will really look good. What strains your thinking of going with?
