    Default My Discus Pictures

Just some quick pictures from my discus tank. It is a 180 planted with CO2 injection and a bit of fertilization, but not enough really. It has a 55 gallon sump. Fully automatic partial water changes 4 times a day. Custom built LED hood, and that's about it.

11 discus, from about 5 inches down to 2.5.

    3 Virgin Reds
    3 Forrest Giant Blue
    2 Blue Diamonds
    1 Ring Pigeon Blood
    1 Golden Lollipop
    1 Albino Golden
1 Flagtail (The odd man out!)

Everyone does well but I think the flag tail will have to go eventually. He is just too much of a pig, but I am going to have to get a big net before I move him. (The flagtail will suck down a WHOLE cube of FDBW, then slowly spew them back out through his mouth, and sometimes gills *sigh*)

    Enjoy the pictures!

And one last batch of the Forrest Giant Blues.

Please don't hate the first picture. This is just to show the color change these guys can go through. Just as I started feeding this guy turned almost black and hid by the black overflows. I would paint them white if I could start all over again, but at the time didn't think about it. The second picture is him about 10 minutes later, and is his normal coloring. I know the 'black' picture looks bad, so I almost didn't post it, but really he is a big healthy fish. Actually it is one of my favorites in the tank!

PS - I could only upload a max of 5 pictures per post, so that is why there are so many replies here from me!

Nice fish, and great photography! You're lucky that it's your prettiest Virgin Red that has love on his (her??) mind. In my experience, the less attractive the fish, the more willing it is to breed! haha

Worst thing is they picked plants in the middle of the tank to start cleaning, so if they lay eggs there there will be no safe place for everyone else.
