Default Do I need to use Discus Trace from Seachem?

I was wondering if any of you out there use Discus Trace from Seachem? If so do you need to use it if you have hard water? Can it contribute to diatom algae? Thanks...

I have never used it, I have heard of people using it in RO water for remineralization.

Joe Gargus, water lab just told me its boo hockey. I don't know but that was his expert opinion, he sad use raw tap water to remineralise and reach target EC/TDS

I have never used it, on my 2 month old fry I use RO and tap water. I have been slowly using less RO currently I use about 20% RO and by end of week will go straight aged tap water.

No waste of money. You would be better spending on some filters to put inline off your tap.
    Thanks Timmy

Trace is used with RO water generally. Don't bother otherwise

Do not confuse "Trace Elements" with salt mineralization!

    http://www.seachem.com/Products/prod...scusTrace.html

For RO water treatment is used: Discus Buffer Seachem + Neutral Regulator : http://www.seachem.com/Products/prod...cusBuffer.html

    Back to Discus Trace:

    - Ingredients: calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, potassium iodide, copper sulfate, iron sulfate, zinc sulfate, manganese sulfate, sodium fluoride, selenium AAC
So: do not influence the occurrence of diatoms! Diatom algae does not appear if in the water not are silicates (SiO2). Without silicates these algae can not exist. If you're concerned about the problem of diatoms, buy a test SiO2 from JBL, or make a better cleaning in aquarium!
    - Discus Trace you can use it even with tap water if:
    1- You have champions fish..
2- You have a surplus of money and do not know what to do with them

In comparison: my fish grew big and healthy even without DiscusTrace. And none of them knocked on the window to tell me "Go to buy!"
