Default Jack Wattley Hi-Fin Coerulea X German Colbalt

I have kept these under my hat for nearly 2 months now. I think they ready for their debut here on Simply Discus. A creation from a well known breeder here in Japan, I believe he is Calling them Watley Hi-Fin Solid Blues. According to him they are about 75% Jack Watley Hi-Fin Coerulea, and 25% German Colbalt. He purchased original Watley Coerulea's more than 20 years ago and has been working with them since. It was obvious he took great pride in this strain and he showed me an adult male, which was truly spectacular. These two pics are from this evening and the pic below is from 80 days ago. Oh, and their eyes are florescent Orange, not Red as it looks in the pics.

The largest fish is just over 4 inches (actually on closer inspection maybe closer to 5"). The rest are about 4 to 4 1/2"except a little runt that is probably 2 3/4". They were all about 2 inches 80 days ago. The runt has his spurts, but is a very finicky eater.

I just moved these to a better position for shooting some video, so I will try to post something soon. They are growing so fast I can see it day to day!

Very nice looking group. Good to see the Watley name is still living on.

Thanks all, I am really pleased with them. I will try to get the video up in about a week. They all started out with pointy noses but as the breeder promised they have rounded out nicely, especially in the last 3 weeks. Originally just one seemed to become round overnight, and then several days later two others followed but took about a week, and now the last two of the five larger ones are well on their way. The little runt is the only one that had a fairly round face from the get go, but he is a bit oblong compared to the others. I am doing my best to get him into shape. His appetite is picking up lately, and I suspect he has a good growth spurt coming.

My apologize for the delay, here is a little video I made... fyi it is probably more enjoyable if you watch it with headphones... or at least real speakers.

Not sure if it's because I'm on an iPad, but I don't see a video.

Those fish have awesome shape and color. You can't beat a good cobalt/turquoise discus.
