    Default a VERY odd day

As many of you know I'm a fairly religious church going guy, not that I don't like good scotch. A year ago I was "elected" chairman of the church's centennial committee and we've been doing special things over the last year leading up to today's big event. The day started with a wonderful service and was followed by a catered banquet. As the meal concluded a raffle drawing was done and the microphone opened to the floor. Being the centennial chair I was seated at the table immediately adjacent to the mic. The third person to the mic was the resident poem lady, Ruth. She lost her place a couple times early in the poem then suddenly collapsed, apparently of a massive coronary, and died.

I'm sure there's no place she would have rather been in or other people she would have wanted to be surrounded by when she went, but what an indescribable day.

Indeed. With a retired doctor and a half a dozen nurses in the congregation everything that could possibly be done was, but it was obviously her time.

I'm really sorry to her that keith for you and others who witnessed it. However as mentioned if her number
was called I'm sure she went peacefully amongst the people she loved. A special blessing sent to Ruth.

Thanks Ralph. I've seen people die before, but never drop dead. All the others were suffering and it was a blessing. This situation was just surreal. The banquet was held at round 8 person tables and she sat directly across from me while we ate, with her daughter next to me and a couple other or her family members between them. Surreal is about the only word I can come up with to describe it.

About the only way that would have been better for her is if she had finished reading her poem first.

Sorry you had to witness that it's a hard one. Hopefully she is going to her final reward. God bless Jeff.

My wife is an extremely compassionate person, so you know who ended up hugging/holding Ruth's daughter as Ruth laid not a yard away from them. There couldn't have been a better person there for Ruth's daughter.

Thanks for the thoughts Bill. My wife told me when she came to bed that Ruth dreaded the idea of ending up in a nursing home and she died doing what she loved to do, so from that prospective certainly not all bad. Of course here I am awake in the wee hours replaying the day and trying to make sense of it. A waste of good sleep time I'm sure.

Very well said and Keith my prayers are with her family, your family and your church. I am sure there is peace in your heart and your church knowing she is with the Lord.
