How would you attach?Right now it would have to go on the inside, cant really go on top.

Fashion some slip over the top braces out of Diamond plate, dividing the tank into thirds, then you could go with glass lids. You would need to heat up and bend the steel in a vice, giving yourself 1/2 or so right angle bends, kinda like a " [ " You could paint the steel black to match the existing trim.

Bill, just a suggestion: have custom tops made (glass) like suggested earlier. Instead of worrying abou not have a lip on the tank, you can instead put lips on the tops/covers. Just put a lip on the back end of the glass cover(s) so that one lip goes over the back of the tank and another goes just inside the tank (like an upside down U). That will grab the back edge and hold it.

This can be any which ways. From a boot-type fit out of plastic that slips on the back edge of the cover OR have a glass cutter cut a several holes in two rows on the back edge and just use nylon screws (with wingnuts) to creat a double-edged lip

Tho I like the suggestion, custom top is out.trying to keep this on the cheap.Picked up some aluminum flat stock at Home depot on the way home.going to cut it tommorrow and torch it and make the "u" braces.Tho I like the whole open front,if I divide it into thirds like Rick suggested,I can BS in some regular glass tops.

ah haa! ok, I like that idea too. I've actually used aluminum flat stock to link my two LED strips together. it's one of my "man duck tape"-remedies. use it for an adjustable leaning porch umbrella that had a metal key break as well as cutting small pieces to do some rigging on my little scout boat.

so bill, you're over due for posting another joke. pick up the slack!

Wes came over Sunday and helped me get it into its spot.Moved these guys back over, because I have plans for the 135 they were moved into.
    [IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]BS'ed a brace in,silicone down the middle to help keep the lids in place.Looks crappy, but after I painted it,not so crappy.

Siliconed these hooks inside the tank's sides and front, and formed a "lip",so lids can fit inside.
