Welcome to the neighborhood Nigel. Hope you find your new digs well and ready for moving in. We included a small fishroom which can be expanded as you acquire more tanks and that will happen

So your new place is ready. Please holler if you need any further assistance with moving in. A little bird told me the lot next door is open

    Thank you so much Pat.

No doubt more tanks are in my future.
I have a rough idea for a fish room in the basement. Just need to do a little research and put a few bucks aside before it can happen.

It's good to be a part of a community and hobby that people are passionate about.

    Thanks!

I am in the process of getting a 90 gal for my own discus tank.

My wife started her fishkeeping hobby with a 55 gal, some corydoras and some tetras. She then bought some discus and that is when I became interested.
Unfortunately we lost a few to illness and inexperience and now only have 2 at the moment and they are in a 20 gal QT tank.

I am more determined now than ever to be successful at discus keeping and since she is reluctant to adopt the regimen that I want to do (she's still stuck on smaller and less frequent water changes, wants plants, etc) I have decided to have my own tank where I have full control over the environment.

So the 90 gal should be here soon and it is cornerflo tank. I plan to remove the black part from the aquarium and cut the pipes down to allow for a 50% WC and a larger one..maybe 75% or more....maybe 90%. I will put gate valves underneath and one turn will allow me to dump out the desired amount of water.
I figure this will be an easier and more convenient way to stay on top of the WC's as well as shave off a lot of time.

I plan to have an old 55 gal underneath with a pump that will take the water falling into it and move it to the sink. I will also have a 55 gal as an aging tank for water and use a different pump for that.

So this is my idea for a beginner fish room with the hope that I might be able to expand it later if this is successful. It still might be a little while but I will post pictures of the set up. I will also accept any advice or critiques on my idea.

    Thanks again.

I'm crossing my fingers that I will get my 90 gal this weekend, if it's in. That is, if I can find a way to get it home. It's too big to fit in the car.

Took a break as life was too hectic but I bought 6 discus about 4 weeks ago and they are looking healthy. I still have my GLSS from my original bunch (the only survivor) and she will have a scout fish join her in the next week or two. If all goes well, they will be altogether in my wife's 125 gal. The new bunch are from Rick in BC. I have 1 Blue Spotted Snakeskin, 2 Leopard Snakeskins and 3 Ring Leopards.

The fishroom still hasn't been started but some basement insulation work is on the go so maybe in the fall the fishroom will be back at the top of my list.
