Good luck Greg, following the progress of the setup.
Greg, I had a stand made for my 150 out of 1" by 2" rectangular metal tubing so the total weight of my tank does not sit on 4-6 legs. A wood stand is just as good.
Good luck Greg, following the progress of the setup.

Well if you decide it is too much tank........
I live pretty close and can take it off your hands.
Locating "rooty" looking driftwood I have found to be tough.
Looks like a great build.

SIMPLY DISCUS IS AN OXYMORON
For the stuff I used to hang into the tank,I used the fake, plastic kind from Petsmart. They have some pretty realistic looking pieces, and it was easier to silicone to the glass tops.

I have a couple places I'm going to look into harvesting from. I'll try and take some iPhone pics and post. I am out in the country and we have a some really nice swampy area and some man made lakes. My teenage boys and I will go for a romp this spring and see what we come up with.

So much going on around here that I'm not able to make the tank top priority yet. We bought a foreclosure back in March of last year and I have been recovering from surgery so have a lot of catching up to do on projects around the house. The other bonus to the extended build schedule is the money get spread out over time so the wife does not get quite as peeved as she would if I bought it all at once.
You will have to talk to the wife about dibs on the tank. I think she plans on burying me in it!

Added some new gear today from an estate sale.
Picked up a JEHMCO 1000 watt Titanium Heater w/ ETCI Controller for $90 (new still sealed in the bag)

Picked up the $2.50 75 gallon, future sump. Just needs a little elbow grease, sterilization, and viola! I'm thinking about drilling so I can seal the top with a glass cover to minimize evaporation and noise.

Hey Don. When I get farther along, maybe we should plan a meet-up with some of our other NOVA SD members.

The stand is constructed out of 2 inch square and 3/16 inch thick steel. All corners are braced with gusset plate. Tabs are welded to the frame for attaching finish panels. The unique opening in the back is for my overflow. The outlets would have fallen to close to the frame edge so we engineered the opening to make plumbing access easy. The open span across the front is 56 inches and the top of the stand is at 38 inches. I will probably go with a shaker style or my big pie in the sky idea is to build the tank 3/4 into the wall, leaving 1/4 exposed to the room and and use the engineered stacked stone to wrap the base. I would then frame a canopy from the ceiling which would leave the back of the tank open to the fish room for maintenance.
Enjoy the pictures. Feedback is welcome.

Stone I want to use if the Pie in the Sky plan makes the cut.
