For those playing at home, the original pair was from Bill Palumbo, sold them to Keith, and he sold them to me.I got a few spawns from them, and one morning I came down, and the male was dead.I raised up some of thier spawn, with plans to try and breed them back to the original female rose red.Didnt have any luck with that, but the second generation started pairing up,and that is were this pair is from. Here is a link with some crappy pics of the original pair.http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ter&highlight=

    Well Bill(s),

You got two possibilities, one is they white fry are albino's, the second is they are goldens. If I was a betting man (and it so happens I am) I would put my money on golden. Any takers?

To me it makes a lot more sense that the rose red was crossed with a golden at one point (by the breeder in Forrest's network). Same thing happened to me with my curipera that I got from Kenny.

I've never tried feeding food as big as big as the fish, who knew.

Those suction cups and egg crate dividing the parents looks familiar.

I was giving the other tanks some, and figured the parents would eat it.

It will be interesting to see what Rick is talking about, so I will be asking you to save me a few so I can watch them grow into adult hood. If you have some to offer. You know I am a halo nut so if you have any one developing a nice halo keep me in mind. Rick, Cozy, and John you may spark my curiosity to seriously look at breeding. My big question to all and Bill also, what do you do with all the babies?

Coree, these didnt really start showing halos until they matured. If your interested in any adults,I have 3 left that Im trying to pair/sell.As to the babies, cull and sell.Sometimes keep some for myself.Right now Ill be keeping those goldens,so when they get bigger, there goes another tank down to growing out.

No problem I want to see pictures as they mature. Will talk with you a bit more about the halos.

Fry have been moved to a 40 breeder.Big swing in thier sizes,as Keith can confirm.
    [IMG][/IMG]
7 and 13 bar are the biggest.
    [IMG][/IMG]
The goldens varied, but 3-4 kept up with the 7-13 barred. Most were on the smaller side to culling side.

    [IMG][/IMG]
And then there are about 10 of these that have gray/clear bodies and black fins. They look rather crappy and will pull at next water change.

Bill I'm starting to keep my tanks like yours... So far no issue and less work for me... Lol... When things are too clean fish isn't as Hardy when things get dirty... Lol Anyway, cannot wait to see the golden base growout..
