hypochondriac! I had to look that one up! I hope your right!
Well I hope that is not correct, and I hope your need for meds is not necessary.

So an odd question to the pros. Would the tank size, variety, and number of fish listed in post 8 have anything to do with the problems that may be occurring ? By variety, I'm referring to each species and their recommended "settings" so to say. Cory's-22-26°c, neons-20-26°c and killifish-24°c. The op temp of 30°c. I have read the whole thread but don't remember seeing anything about an overstocked tank being addressed. That is if it's still a rule of thumb for 1 per 10g (37-38 liters). I do understand anything's possible with large and frequent WC's.

I see your point there and have wondered that myself. If my calculations are correct that's 10+ fish in about a 60 some gallon tank. I wouldn't try it myself but someone else may.

Fungus is found in the air and in the water and in soil it is very small, and very opportunistic. Poor water quality, over crowding, any stressor or immune suppressor can allow for fungus to take hold.

Fungus very rarely occurs on healthy tissue and is almost always secondary.

Never having been a science related anything, you don't know how much easier that just made my day. Mold=fungus-secondary to damp=unhealthy-primary. (face-palm)

    That's true and with my recent troubles I have lost 3 so I am left with 8 (6 x 2/3'' and 1 x 4'' and 1 x 3'')

Hey George, you may have a good point about the overcrowding maybe that was an issue as 2 of the 3 I lost had been in the tank for a while before the others were added.
Maybe they were used to a lot more space to themselves so they got stressed when there was less space??

Now my curiosity has gotten the better of me. Did you start with ten and add three ? Did you have ten total when starting this thread about bacteria or fungus ? At any rate, my real question is how could you have ten, lose 3, and wind up with 8 left ?

And for some reason I'm not really buying the theory of the "loss of space" stress issue when you knowingly introduced fish you didn't QT, into a tank with sick fish.

You seem a little confused, George. I had 8 discus before the 3 newbies arrived and during my troubles I have lost 2 of the 8 I had before and just recently one of the newbies which equals 3 which leaves me with 8 again, hope that's not too confusing

That's not too confusing, I guess. I was going based on you having 10 when you filled out the questionnaire on 2/21/14. And that you also stated WC's consisted of 50% twice a week sometimes 3 depending on nitrates rising above 10 mg/l which contradicts your post on 2/25/14 in another that says you do WC's when they rise to 15-20 mg/l and that is normally once a week. So I guess that's what is confusing me.
